Home Carpet Cleaning Tips
It is a little difficult to run to the
drycleaners for every carpet stain. Carpets get dirty, stained or
even burned. Here are some easy home tips for fixing that carpet
while you delay the visit to the drycleaner and save some money.
If the carpet is very dusty and the vacuum
cleaner is just not able to get it really clean, we have a solution.
Take an old bed sheet and put it in hot water. Now take it out of
the water and wring it dry. Put this sheet on the carpet and
beat with a stick. Wacky idea but works well as the 'hot' sheet
absorbs the dust and dirt that comes out of the carpet when you give
it a whack. Be careful that you don't break anything!
If your carpets give a faded look and the
colors are all dull and unappetizing, don't worry we have a easy
solution. Prepare a mixture by mixing warm water with
Turpentine (70% water, 30% Turpentine). Dip a clean white cloth
in this mixture and give the faded carpet a good rub and see the
colors shine as new.
Remove a chewing gum stuck on a carpet by rubbing
the gum with an ice cube. The chewing gum will harden and can be
easily scraped out.
Wine spills on the carpet can be removed by
dipping a white piece of cloth in club soda and rubbing the wine
off. Do it quickly before the wine really settles in.
Another way to remove that pesky grime from the
carpet is to sprinkle lots of common salt on the carpet. Leave
for a couple of minutes and then rub vigorously with a clean cloth.
All the dirt will come off, and you save a trip to the drycleaners
Did some one puke on your carpet after that wild
party? That will really stink unless you clean that area with a
cloth dipped in lots of club soda.
So now, you got a clean carpet, the easy way.
However sometimes, it may be necessary to rush an expensive Persian
or Turkish carpet to a drycleaner because you just can't take the
risk.
