Smoke tends to linger. And the burnt odor is difficult to get rid off..
Some general common sense techniques to get rid of the smell are as
follows.
Open windows and let the fresh air come in. Fresh
air will normally replace the smoke in the room.
Hang wet towels in the room. Replace the towels
after an hour or so with fresh wet towels. This will help get rid of
that smoky odor.
Sprinkle soda bicarbonate in the corners of the
room. This will help neutralize the bad smell.
You may also spray a nice perfume in the air or
use fresh cut flowers for that nice masking smell. Pour some cologne
in a small bowl of water and keep in the room. This should help.
An easy way to get rid of lingering smoke smell
in the room is with the use of vinegar. Keep a big bowl of vinegar
in the room and let the vinegar absorb and neutralize the smell of
the smoke leaving the room smelling fresh.
Get those exhaust fans running. In case they are
not available, create a cross current in the room by opening
opposite windows and let the outside air do the trick for you.
